A week from today, Thursday, September 22nd, Syracuse City Ballet will be kicking off their 20th Anniversary Season with an eclectic performance that not only features the company’s Corps de ballet, but will bring back Syracuse City Ballet Alumni and a very special guest.
The performance, “An Intimate Evening with Syracuse City Ballet” will be presented in the Bevard Studio at the Oncenter at 7pm. “You don’t often get the chance to see dance as up close as you will with ‘Intimate Evening,’” says company Artistic and Executive Director Kathleen Rathbun. “There are only 150 seats and no matter where you sit you will vivdly experience the strength and athleticism of the dancers as well as their grace and beauty.”
The evening will feature a blend of classical ballet and contemporary dance with original choreography by the company’s Ballet Mistress, Stephanie Dattellas and Assistant Ballet Mistress, Rachael Cierniakoski. Featured artists include Zach Downer, Claire Rathbun and Jake Casey. Downer, awarded a full scholarship by the Rock School of Dance Education has participated in many of the most elite global dance competitions and was featured on TV hit series, “So You Think You Can Dance”. Claire Rathbun was a 2014 Youth America Grand Prix New York City medalist and has danced with Washington Ballet. She performed, with Casey, in the first “Intimate Evening” in 2014. Casey dances with Cincinnati Ballet and was in Syracuse City Ballet’s 2015 production of “Swan Lake.”
